സംഗീതത്തിൽ  ശ്രുതി അമ്മയും, താളം അച്ഛനും എന്നു പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.

Shruthi is the Foundation pitch upon which all other notes are placed. In western music Foundation pitch is called Tonic / Root

Foundation not in Carnatic music is SA (Shadja)

Along with SA, the fifth note called PA (Pancha) is also provided in Tambura or Shruthi box.

സ പ എന്നിവയാണ് ശ്രുതി സ്വരങ്ങൾ അഥവാ പ്രകൃതി സ്വരങ്ങൾ. ഈ രണ്ടു സ്വരങ്ങളും ഒരു രാഗത്തിലും മാറുന്നില്ല.
